Nearly 2 billion people around the world live in slum housing and over 100 million are homeless. Habitat for Humanity is needed to help eliminate poverty by providing simple, decent shelter to those in need. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. Their houses are simple, decent, and affordable to low-income families around the world. Individuals, corporations, faith groups and others provide vital financial support.

Relay for Life is a volunteer-driven cancer fundraiser event of the American Cancer Society. Although the main objective of Relay for Life is to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, the event is held to spread cancer awareness, celebrate the lives of survivors, remember those who lost their lives to cancer, and unite a community in the fight against cancer.

L.A. Love & Leashes is the first non-profit run “pet store” dedicated to the animals in LA City Shelters. It is run by the group Friends of L.A. Animal Shelters. Tuesday – Sunday dogs and cats are transported from the West LA Shelter to the mall to hopefully find new homes with mall shoppers. This is a welcoming, high traffic adoption location at the Westside Pavilion for dogs and cats who have not yet been rescued and are living at the shelter.
